What can you do NOW to guard against fraud if your wallet is lost or stolen?
Photocopy everything in your wallet!
Make copies of the front and back of everycredit/debit card, driver’s licence, etc. Beside each image, write the phone number to call in case of loss or theft. Keep the photocopies in a safe place. Remember to photocopy any new cards you add to your wallet
If your wallet is ever lost or stolen:
- Immediately call to report the loss or theft and cancel cards.
- Call the police to report the loss or theft. That report will show that you were diligent, and will be the basis of any investigation.
- Contact the national credit reporting agencies to initiate a fraud alert. Any company that checks your credit will then know that your information was lost or stolen.
